Why You Should Test Your AC Before Summer

As temperatures begin to rise in South Jersey, it’s essential to ensure your central air conditioning is prepared for the upcoming heatwaves. Testing your AC before the summer is in full swing is crucial for maintaining a cool and comfortable home! Here’s how you can check your cooling system yourself, and why it’s smart to schedule air conditioning service for added peace of mind.

Why Is Testing Your AC Important?

One of the smartest things you can do as a homeowner is evaluate your AC’s performance before you truly need it. Running your AC during the warm-but-not-scorching early summer months helps identify potential issues early on, when there’s still time to schedule AC repair services.

Testing gives you the opportunity to identify common AC problems early, such as:

  • Weak airflow
  • Uneven or inadequate cooling
  • Unusual noises or foul odors
  • An AC that won’t turn on at all

Signs Your AC Might Need Attention

When you go to test your AC, watch out for these common signs you need air conditioning repairs.

1. Weak airflow

Reduced airflow from your vents can indicate clogged filters or duct issues. These problems restrict the flow of cool air, diminishing your AC’s effectiveness.

2. Inconsistent cooling

Uneven cooling in the different areas of your Tri-County New Jersey home can indicate there’s a problem with the system. Professional testing can identify the underlying causes and restore whole home comfort.

3. Strange noises

Unusual sounds like grinding, rattling, or squealing coming from your AC unit often point to mechanical issues. In these cases, professional HVAC assistance is necessary to diagnose and resolve the problem.

4. Unpleasant smells

Foul odors coming from your vents when your AC is running is another sign of issues with your cooling system. Expert HVAC help can eliminate these odors and ensure cleaner, healthier indoor air.

5. Operational issues

It’s possible that your air conditioner won’t even turn on when you go to test it. This could mean an issue with the thermostat, an electrical problem, or a larger problem within your HVAC system. Even though dealing with a broken-down AC is frustrating, it’s better to find out about it now instead of in the middle of a heat wave!

South Jersey Rising Junior and Senior High School Young Women are Encouraged to Apply

Voorhees, New Jersey – April 1, 2026 – Young women going into their junior and senior years of high school who are thinking about their futures are encouraged to apply to attend the 2026 Bovio Rubino Service Young Women’s Leadership Conference on Wednesday, July 15 in Voorhees.

The application to attend the Young Women’s Leadership Conference is now live and available through Friday, May 1 by midnight. The Conference is part of “LeadHERship in ’26,” this year’s Bovio Rubino Service community cause which “seeks to advance the opportunities of young women through career readiness, entrepreneurship, community betterment and a personal health and wellness mindset.”

Speakers, workshops and discussions are part of the one-day Conference in July. The opportunity to present an original idea that betters the community after the Conference will be presented to the Conference attendees.

Investing in young women is an idea close to the heart of Bovio Rubino Service president Angela Rubino Hines, a Mom of two young women and a leader amongst very few women in the HVAC and Plumbing service industry. In 2025 Hines was named one of the country’s “Top 12 Women in HVAC” by ACHR News. While she’s humble about the success she has achieved it inspires her to encourage the next generation of women leaders.

“We look forward to investing in young women this year at our Conference, through creative programs with our team members and through partnerships with nonprofit organizations. ‘LeadHERship in ’26’ is our way of giving back and inspiring the next generation of women leaders right here in South Jersey where we live and where our customers live.”
