5 Ways a Smart Thermostat Can Make a Big Difference in Your Home

As a family-made local business serving the South Jersey area, the team at Bovio Rubino Service prides ourselves on offering top-notch HVAC services, but we don’t just stop there. We believe in arming our clients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their home comfort. So today, we’re discussing an upgrade that has transformed many South Jersey homes: the smart thermostat.

What Is a Smart Thermostat?

A smart thermostat is a device that, when connected to your cooling and heating systems, controls the temperature in your home. But smart thermostats work by offering several impressive features that go beyond traditional programmable thermostats, including:

  • Automatically learning and adjusting to your temperature preferences
  • Remote access
  • Wifi connectivity
  • Data and reporting capabilities

Here are five ways that installing a smart thermostat is worth it, and how it can make a significant difference in your home:

1. “Smarter” Home Comfort

With a smart thermostat, you can truly just set it and forget it. These devices learn from your habits and preferences, automatically adjusting the temperature for maximum comfort. It’s like having a personal assistant who’s constantly ensuring your home is at the ideal temperature: cool during those South Jersey summer months and cozy when the winter chill sets in.

2. Save Money on Energy Bills

One of the best smart thermostat benefits is its potential for energy bill savings. Many local homeowners wonder, “Do smart thermostats save money?”, and the answer is a resounding “yes”. By learning from your habits and routines and adapting to them, smart thermostats avoid wasting energy, cutting down your air conditioning bills in the summer and heating bills in the winter without compromising your indoor comfort.

3. Access Your Thermostat Remotely

Smart thermostats offer the convenience of adjusting your comfort settings from anywhere using your smartphone or computer. Going on a trip? Adjust your settings on the go so your AC isn’t running full blast while no one is home. Working late? Set your home to be cool and refreshing when you return. This level of control, available where you have access to the internet, is just another way a smart thermostat makes life easier!

4. Environmental Benefits

Smart thermostats are better for the environment. By running your HVAC system less frequently and reducing energy waste, these thermostats actually make your house “greener”, lowering your carbon footprint. At the same time, you’re also saving money, making it a win-win situation.

5. Sell Your House for More

Finally, having a smart thermostat can increase your home’s resale value. Homebuyers are increasingly attracted to smart and green homes. A smart thermostat for your heating and cooling system can be a selling point that sets your home apart from others on the market.

Through a Competitive Application Process South Jersey Rising Juniors and Seniors Selected for Exposure to Careers, Entrepreneurship and Wellness

The Bovio Rubino Service Young Women’s Leadership Conference takes place on Wednesday, July 15 at the HVAC and Plumbing Services company’s headquarters in Voorhees.

The 13 South Jersey young women selected to attend the Conference are all rising juniors and seniors at local high schools. They completed applications and were chosen through a competitive process. At the Conference they will gain exposure to career paths, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, problem solving and mind and body wellness. A community service project benefitting Cathedral Kitchen in Camden is also planned.

Subject matter experts presenting at the Young Women’s Leadership Conference in addition to Hines include CEO of ACCU Staffing Elaine M. Damm, Senior Investment Manager at Aberdeen plc Zoe McCormick, Jennifer Nagle, Vice President of External Affairs and Special Projects, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, Senior Product Manager at SimpliSafe Molly Nugiel, Founder of Higher Minds Laura Rubino and Dr. Barbara Winfield, owner of Family Practice Associates of Voorhees.

After being named one of the top 12 Women in HVAC in America in 2025 by ACHR News, Hines made advancing young women the Bovio Rubino Service community case for 2026. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) women made up 1.5 percent of HVAC mechanics and installers in 2021. Even fewer women own and run HVAC and Plumbing service companies independently. Hines had few women role models coming up in the business.

“I want to give young women every opportunity for success as they advance in life, both in their careers and as citizens,” Hines, a Mom of two daughters in college and high school, said. “As the owner of a thriving, independent, family-owned business in South Jersey, it’s my way of paying it forward. We are very busy designing the Conference ensuring it will have high impact on the young women in attendance.”

The Bovio Rubino Service Young Women’s Leadership Conference is the program highlight of the HVAC and Plumbing Service company’s 2026 community cause “LeadHERship in ’26” which advances opportunities for young women through career readiness, entrepreneurship, community betterment and a personal health and wellness mindset.
