HVAC Rebates & Tax Credits in New Jersey

HVAC Rebates & Tax Credits in New Jersey

Upgrading your home's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system can significantly enhance comfort and energy efficiency. However, the initial investment can be substantial. Fortunately, homeowners in New Jersey have access to various federal tax credits and state-specific rebates that can offset these costs. Understanding these incentives can help you make informed decisions and maximize your savings.

Federal Tax Credits for Energy-Efficient HVAC Systems

The federal government offers tax incentives to encourage homeowners to adopt energy-efficient technologies. Under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, several tax credits are available through 2032 for qualifying HVAC systems:

· Air source heat pumps: Homeowners can claim a tax credit of up to 30% of the installation cost, capped at $2,000. These systems provide both heating and cooling, making them a versatile choice for year-round comfort.

· Central air conditioners: Qualifying units are eligible for a tax credit of up to 30% of the cost, with a maximum of $600. To be eligible, systems must meet specific energy efficiency criteria, such as a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER2) of 16 or higher.

· Gas furnaces: High-efficiency gas furnaces with an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating of 97% or higher may qualify for a tax credit of up to 30% of the cost, also capped at $600.

To claim these credits, ensure that your chosen equipment meets the ENERGY STAR® certification and efficiency requirements. Consult with a tax professional to accurately file for these credits using IRS Form 5695.

New Jersey State Rebates and Incentives

In addition to federal tax credits, New Jersey offers state-specific programs to promote energy efficiency:

Utility Company Rebates: Many utility providers in New Jersey, such as PSE&G, Jersey Central Power & Light, South Jersey GasNew Jersey Natural Gas (NJN) and Atlantic City Electric (ACE) offer rebates for energy-efficient HVAC installations. These programs often have specific requirements and may require using approved contractors. Contact your utility provider or visit their website to learn about available incentives.

Combining Federal & State Incentives

Homeowners can maximize savings by combining federal tax credits with state and utility rebates. For instance, you might receive a rebate from NJCEP for installing a high-efficiency heat pump and also claim a federal tax credit for the same equipment.

It's important to note that while you can combine these incentives, each program has its own application process and eligibility requirements. Ensure you adhere to all guidelines and submit the necessary documentation for each.

Steps to Take Advantage of HVAC Incentives

1. Assess your current system: Determine if upgrading your HVAC system will provide significant energy savings and improved comfort.

2. Research qualified equipment: Look for HVAC systems that meet or exceed the efficiency standards required for federal and state incentives. ENERGY STAR® certified products are a good starting point.

3. Consult with professionals: Engage with certified HVAC contractors familiar with New Jersey's rebate programs and federal tax credits. They can provide guidance on eligible equipment and assist with the application processes.

4. Apply for rebates and credits: After installation, promptly submit all required documentation to claim your rebates and tax credits. Keep copies of all receipts and certifications for your records. With Bovio Rubino Service, we handle all the necessary rebate paperwork for you!

Upgrading to an energy-efficient HVAC system in New Jersey can work for your budget, thanks to the availability of federal tax credits and state-specific rebates. By understanding and leveraging these incentives, you can reduce the upfront costs of your new system and enjoy long-term energy savings.

South Jersey Rising Junior and Senior High School Young Women are Encouraged to Apply

Voorhees, New Jersey – April 1, 2026 – Young women going into their junior and senior years of high school who are thinking about their futures are encouraged to apply to attend the 2026 Bovio Rubino Service Young Women’s Leadership Conference on Wednesday, July 15 in Voorhees.

The application to attend the Young Women’s Leadership Conference is now live and available through Friday, May 1 by midnight. The Conference is part of “LeadHERship in ’26,” this year’s Bovio Rubino Service community cause which “seeks to advance the opportunities of young women through career readiness, entrepreneurship, community betterment and a personal health and wellness mindset.”

Speakers, workshops and discussions are part of the one-day Conference in July. The opportunity to present an original idea that betters the community after the Conference will be presented to the Conference attendees.

Investing in young women is an idea close to the heart of Bovio Rubino Service president Angela Rubino Hines, a Mom of two young women and a leader amongst very few women in the HVAC and Plumbing service industry. In 2025 Hines was named one of the country’s “Top 12 Women in HVAC” by ACHR News. While she’s humble about the success she has achieved it inspires her to encourage the next generation of women leaders.

“We look forward to investing in young women this year at our Conference, through creative programs with our team members and through partnerships with nonprofit organizations. ‘LeadHERship in ’26’ is our way of giving back and inspiring the next generation of women leaders right here in South Jersey where we live and where our customers live.”
