What Is ASE?
When it comes to ventilators, Apparent Sensible Effectiveness (ASE) is the most commonly reported number for heat transfer efficiency. The higher the number, the better.
What Is TRE?
Total Recovery Efficiency (TRE) is a measurement that includes latent heat recovery, used in determining the amount of energy passed between airstreams in a heat or energy recovery ventilator.
What Does MERV Efficiency Mean?
When considering air purifiers, MERV efficiency, or minimum efficiency reporting value, is a measurement scale that was designed in 1987 by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to rate the effectiveness of air filters. This scale represents the worst-case performance of a filter when dealing with particles that range from 0.3 to 10 micrometers. A higher MERV efficiency rating means a greater percentage of particles are captured by the filter on each pass. A MERV 16 filter captures more than 95% of particles over the full range.
